Challenge:

In 1998, we were engaged - with only a six-week window of time – to handle the public relations for the Eric Williams Memorial Collection, in Trinidad and Tobago, the English-speaking Caribbean’s first entity akin to a U.S. Presidential Library. Comprised of a research library, archives and museum, the EWMC contains the books, personal papers and memorabilia about Dr. Eric E. Williams’ legacy. This scholar-turned-statesman, is considered the country’s “Founding Father.”

No press or collateral materials had ever been produced. Our mission was to create a comprehensive media kit and develop a strategic press list for media.

Solution:

Under a strenuous deadline, we researched and wrote the press kit, created collateral materials, distributed the press kits, contacted media, and then we came up for air. We had researched Dr. Williams’ compelling history. That we were inspired by his legacy of having navigated the two-island state into its dawn of independence and nationhood remains a story we are delighted to share. We pitched in to shine some tarnished silver in the wee morning hours – which broadened our job description a bit!

Result:

Among others, we secured a mention in the New York Times Sunday Magazine that was published a mere three weeks later,  along with a photo of Secretary Powell (a Calypso devoté) then Prime Minister Basdeo Panday, and the renown Calypsonian Mighty Sparrow.
